A Backup Server is a server that is in charge of reserving important data, files, folders, databases, and hard drives on a specialized on-premise or remote server/network. It is responsible to prevent loss of data in the situation of a hard drive failure, disaster, or technical failure. It combines hardware and software technologies that provide backup storage and retrieval services to connected computers, servers or related devices. In the case of on-premises backup solution deployment, the backup server is installed in the local network. When it comes to cloud deployment, a remote backup server is used. This means that the backup solution is deployed off-site, for example in a data center.
